Andres Barraza

25

years of field safety across mining, heavy civil, utilities, and industrial maintenance.

Marine Corps Veteran
Why Minero

From the shop floor to the safety office.

Andres started as a Marine Corps heavy equipment mechanic, then spent years as a diesel mechanic and welder before moving into maintenance at an Arizona copper mine — working mills, crushers, conveyors, and smelter furnaces. Work at heights and in confined spaces pulled him toward safety.

He volunteered for the mine rescue team, went on to lead it, and more than doubled its size in a year. That led to an MSHA instructor card, OSHA 500 authorization, and the CHST — and to safety management roles in utilities and heavy civil construction.

"Minero" means miner. The name is a reminder of where this work started: with people who do dangerous jobs and deserve to go home the same way they came in.
